Before joining PPPI, he worked as a media analyst and journalist on economic issues. He holds a bachelor degree in philosophy from Paramadina University in 2013 and a master degree in Sociology from the University of Indonesia in 2019. During his university years, Septa had been awardee of the Paramadina Fellowship and LPDP (Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education). His expertise is political and cultural sociology particularly in identity and postcolonialism, Islam and politics, and religious conflict.
